When Grief & Joy Touch

It's been a month since I turned the big 4-0. I was told several times leading up to and even after my birthday how freeing being 40 is. That the 40s was a fave age period. I have to say that it has been everything I was told and more. I've come to see that when grief and joy touch, there's beauty in between.

Grieving the loss of so many loved ones over the last few years has been an eye opening experience. I've spent a lot of time reflecting and I have come to realize 4 things since turning 40. Things that only make sense when you see and feel it for yourself.

  1. Time is fluid and waits for no one. The world will keep on turning after loved ones pass away. So how do you want to spend the time you have left?

  2. It's absolutely ok to slow down and take your time. We live in a world where culture screams at you to hustle and grind but when you do that, you miss the blessings God has for you. Busyness keeps you on the hamster wheel to no where.

  3. Do more of what lights you up. With that hustle & grind culture we're so accustomed to comes the taking care of everyone else and rarely stopping to care for oneself. It's so important to do what you can to fill your cup up. How can you pour into others from an empty cup?

  4. When your cup over flows, you have more than enough to share with others. We all have special gifts that God has bestowed upon us. Gifts that only we were created to share with the world. Spend time with those who full your spirit, uplift you and encourage you to share your gifts with the world.

I'm confident more lessons will continue to be added to my tool belt as I further down the path of being 40. I'm looking forward to sharing those all they come up. My encouragement to you today is to drop the weight the the world has put on your shoulders. It isn't yours to carry. We were not created to live life in a numb, place of misery or stress. Take time for yourself regularly to do what you love and love what you do 💜 There's a masterpiece within you waiting to be shared with the world!
